   LED TVs are a subset of LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) TVs, but instead of using traditional cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs) for backlighting, they use LED lights arranged behind the screen to illuminate the pixels.

  There are two main types of LED backlighting used   in LED TVs
:

                          Edge-lit LED:

 

  In this configuration, the LEDs are placed around the edges of the screen. Light is then spread across the display panel using light guides or diffusers.

 

                          Direct-lit LED:

 

  This setup involves an array of LEDs behind the entire surface of the screen, providing more precise control over localized dimming and brightness levels.
